50 Mile & 50K Route Details
New - 50 mile route from Bristol
Springs to Naples aid station will use Rte. 21 (aka "The Low Road"),
eliminating the two right hand turns most likely to be missed and the need
to cross Rte 21 to reach the Naples aid station.
New - 50K race route will be the
final 31 miles of the 50 mile route. Both races will finish at Finger
Lakes Community College.
New - The "Naples Detour" will again
be used. The rail-to-trail between Rte. 21 and Parish will still be
closed..

"First 10"
- Start to Onanda Park
Topography: Mostly Flat,
Some Medium Hills
Run downhill from the Gym; turn left to run past Performing Arts Center.
Follow drive (W) to Rte. 364. Turn right (N). Be very careful crossing
364 to run on the left facing traffic.
Turn left (W) onto Lakeshore Drive at first traffic light. Please use
the sidewalk along Lakeshore Drive. Follow
Lakeshore Drive as it curves North. At the
Rte. 20 traffic light, turn left and run first on the grass and then on the
shoulder of Rte. 20. After you cross over the Lake Outlet Channel,
turn bear left down the bank and cross the creek on temporary wooden foot bridge. Over
the foot bridge, bear right and run along the fence to gate at West Lake
Drive. Go through the gate and turn left on West Lake Drive.
Continue on West Lake Drive. An Aid Station will be at the Pump
Station (5.2 miles from start).
Handers & Teams:
There is no access to West Lake Road from Rte. 20. See Race
Handbook for how to get from Lakeshore Drive to West Lake Road.
Use the Pump Station parking lot on the right. Be careful crossing the
road to handle your runner.
Continue South on West Lake Drive.
A series of medium hills start at about 7.0 miles. The Aid Station and 1st Relay
Exchange are at Onanda Park.
The aid station will be just inside the Park Entrance on the LEFT.
Drop Bags will be at the aid station.
Handlers & Teams: Drive
in the Park Entrance and park in the main parking lot; do not park on West Lake
Road or in the park driveway. |

"Coye Cutoff" - Onanda Park to Bopple Bottom
Topography: Big Up, Big Down
Continue South on West Lake Road as the road climbs away from the lake.
Turn left onto Coye Road. After a long flat, Coye turns right
and is very steep for a couple hundred yards. After the big up
and a small dip, the grade is more gradual to Seneca Point Road.
Turn left onto Seneca Point Road. After a bit of gradual downhill,
the road drops quickly back to the lake shore. Continue past the Hicks Road
intersection 0.15 miles to the Aid Station and 2nd Relay Exchange.
Handlers & Teams: Drive past the aid station and park on the
left. |

"Bopple Hill" - Bopple Bottom to Bristol Springs
Topography: Monster Up, Medium
Down
Continue South on Bopple Hill Road. After about 1 mile along
the lake shore, the fun begins. The Bopple Hill climb (600 feet
in 0.8 mile) has three sections: a short but very steep wall
followed by a short gentle grade and a long steep wall. At the top,
turn left onto Rte. 21. After another half mile of gentle uphill,
begin a medium downhill. At T-intersection with Rte. 64, bear left staying
on Rte. 21. Details on location of
the Bristol Springs Aid Station and
3rd Relay Exchange will be added.

"Low Road" - Bristol Springs to Naples Aid Station
Topography: Long Down then Flat
NEW: Follow Rte. 21 south for
5.7 miles to the Naples Aid Station. Details of new route will be
added... basically Rte. 21 drops back to the lake in about 2.7 miles and the
location of the 50K start at the boat launch just south of Woodville.
From the 50K
start, the route is mostly flat 3.0 miles to the aid station.
The Aid Station and 4th Relay Exchange
is in the construction equipment storage area to your right.
Drop Bags will be at the aid station.
Handlers & Teams: Turn
right on 21 and then pull off on the left to park in the construction
equipment storage area. |

"245 Detour to Sunnyside" - Rtes 21 & 245 to Sunnyside
Topography: Gently Rolling Roads
NEW: Proceed South on
21 into Naples. At 0.4 miles, turn L onto SR 245. Continue on
245 for 4.0 miles. Turn L on Sunnyside Rd. The Aid Station and
5th Relay Exchange are at the Trail crossing.
Note: Trail previously used is closed due to unsafe
bridge crossing over Naples Creek. Detour adds 0.5 miles to route.
Handers & Teams: NEW: Follow the same route.
There is limited parking on the left, more across the bridge along Sunnyside
on the right. |

"West Avenue to Middlesex" - Sunnyside to Church in
Middlesex
Topography: Rolling
Roads
Continue on Sunnyside about half a mile and bear right at Y-intersection onto West Avenue. Enjoy
the gently rolling road. As
you approach the intersection with Rte. 364 in the town of Middlesex, the
Aid Station and 6th Relay Exchange is at the Church on the left. There are rest rooms at
the Church.
Rest rooms are available at the Church.
Drop Bags will be at the aid station.
Handlers & Teams: Park on the
right where signs direct you.
50K solo; cut-off time limit 3 hours 30 minutes (i.e., 1:30 PM).

"Vine Valley" - Middlesex to Vine Valley
Topography: Big Up, Big Down
In the town
of Middlesex, continue NE out of town on Rte. 364. There's a pretty
good climb to the intersection with S
Vine Valley Road. Take S Vine Valley Road to the small community of Vine Valley.
The road has a big down, then rolling hills and then drops steeply
to intersect S Lake Road.
NEW: At the intersection, turn right (N) onto S Lake
Road. Continue North one short block to Left at Community Center. Run
down to Beach Park at lakeshore. The 7th Relay Exchange and Aid
Station at the Beach Park.There will
probably be a Porta-Pottie at the Beach Park. The store will be open.
It mainly has books and memorabilia.
Handlers & Teams: Park on the
east side of the store parking lot (the side farther away from the lake). |

"Bare Hill Climb" - Vine Valley to Top of Bare Hill Climb
Topography: Long Climb, Then Steep Climb
NEW:
From the aid station, run back to S Vine Valley Road and turn left (N).
Continue on S Vine Valley Road for 0.3 miles.
Immediately after a steeply-climbing hairpin turn, continue straight on N
Vine Valley Road. The climb on N Vine Valley Road is a moderate stair
casing climb. Walk the steeper bits & run the easier sections.
At about 2.0 miles N Vine Valley dips and Bare Hill Road intersects on the
left. Turn left (N) on Bare Hill Road. The 0.7 mi climb is steep
but significantly easier than Bopple Hill. The Aid Station and
8th Relay Exchange are at the intersection with Van Epps Road.
Drop Bags will be at the aid station.
Handlers & Teams: Turn left on
Van Epps Road and park on the right side of Van Epps Road. |

"Twitchell-Green" - Town Line Arnold Road
Topography: Short Up and Longer Gradual Down; Short Up Then
Flat, Rolling
NEW: Continue N on Bare Hill
Road. At 1.0 miles, turn right (E) on Town Line Road. At
2.0 miles, turn Left (North) on Twitchell. At 3 miles, Twitchell
curves to the Right (East). At Rte. 364
intersection, STOP and LOOK BOTH WAYS before continuing straight across 364.
The road
name changes to Green. Green dips and then climbs to intersect with
Arnold Road. The Aid Station and final Relay Exchange are at the
intersection. |

"Middle Road"
- Arnold to Finish
Topography: Mostly Flat to Gently Down
Turn Left (North) on Arnold to CR 1 at 1.2 miles. Zag Right on CR 1
and then an immediate Left onto Conklin. The road dips and then gently
climbs to intersect Middle Road. Turn Left (North) and head for home.
The 11th aid station (not a relay exchange) is at the intersection with Kipp
Road at 3.7 miles. The route continues North on Middle Road to CR 18. Turn
Left onto CR 18. Take care... the traffic may be heavy for the next
mile to Lincoln Hill Road. Ignore the Dead End sign and turn Right onto
Lincoln Hill. At the traffic barrier, go around either end and proceed
down the mown grassy trail to Campus Drive. Turn Right and follow
Campus Drive. Turn Right to loop up and around campus buildings to the
Finish in front of the Gym.
Handers & Teams: Don't turn
off CR 18 onto Lincoln Hill. Lincoln Hill is a dead-end road. See Race Handbook for how to get from CR
18 back to Finish. |
