Fast 10 to Onanda Park (10.04 miles) - Andrew Wahila charged into a quick lead, up 6 minutes at the Pump Station (5.7 miles) and a 11 minutes at Onanda Park. Theresa Palmieri, Marc Berson, and Veteran Marc Vengrove were even over the first 10 with David Groff another 3 minutes back.
Three Big Hills (22.63 miles) - The middle section of the 50K is tougher than any equivalent distance in the full 50 mile course... three major climbs totaling 1500 feet of gain and loss in only 12 miles. Over the hills, Wahila ran strongly and continued to extend his lead. Vengrove broke away from his companions on the climbs and moved into a solid second place at 27 minutes behind Wahila. Groff had a slim 1 minute lead over Palmieri with Marc Berson another 2 minutes back on the return to the Onanda Park aid station.
Fast 10 to the Finish (32.65 miles) - Wahila continued to extend his lead. Vengrove cruised home for a solid Veteran win and 2nd overall finish. Palmieri got away from Groff and Berson to finish 1st Woman and 3rd overall, only 7 minutes behind Vengrove. Groff and Berson finished 4th and 5th overall respectively.
