The race starts in Vine Valley.
It is often remarked that the marathon is best approached as a 20 mile run followed by a 10K race. The corollary for the run around Canandaigua Lake is it is best thought of as a 60K run followed by a 20K race.  It can be a long day if approached in the reverse order.  Click here for the ultra race story.

Congratulations to Andy Rice and Joe Packard for finishing three years in a row.

*New category record by Bill Fornoff -  Bill took a solid 6:40 off his own 2004 record for Super Veteran Men.  Notably, he did this on a noticeably harder course (the Leg 1 detour added 150 feet of climbing and descending) and more difficult weather conditions (i.e., misting rain and a substantial headwind on the exposed final 10 miles.

New Category Records and Top 10 List Rewritten
The Oven Door Masters came to the race with some new team members and took over 36 minutes off their 2004 record.  The Retrofits came back this year with a team of five men over 50 and set the mark in the previously open category for Veteran Men.   Click here for the story of how the records were set.

The top 6 teams all made the All-Time Top Ten List.  The top 7 teams all averaged faster than 8 minutes per mile despite the 3650 feet of gain and loss over the 50-mile distance.

The hot category this year was Open Mixed.  The top 3 teams swapped the lead many times over the 10 running legs before the Nuts-n-Berries took the win.

The Game Farm Girls Team made it three finishes in a row... this year with three nursing babies along for the adventure.  Click here for photos.
